Heart Care Practice in Hudson Maintains Comprehensive Electronic Medical Records
HUDSON, OH (January 20, 2008) - Western Reserve Heart Care, a cardiology testing and treatment facility located in Hudson, recently installed a new NextGen electronic medical records (EMR) system to allow them to maintain patient records in an electronic format. NextGen is one of the premier manufacturers of EMR systems in the US, and offers advanced features that benefit both the patient and the doctor.
"Electronic medical records systems allow us to maintain electronic records securely and conveniently. They make diagnosis, treatment, and prescriptions easier and safer to track, which benefits both our patients and our practice," explained Dr. Emil Hayek, founder of Western Reserve Heart Care. "The NextGen system we chose offers our patients the convenience of automatic reminders and digital prescriptions, as well as secure online access to their records."
The new system allows Dr. Hayek and the staff at Western Reserve Heart Care to focus on patients rather than paperwork. NextGen uses industry standards so it’s compatible with hospital systems, pharmacies, and labs. The software makes filling and refilling prescriptions easy for patients by allowing the Western Reserve Heart Care team to manage potential drug interactions and send prescriptions and refill requests directly to patients’ preferred pharmacies. It centralizes patient medical records, streamlines the diagnosis and treatment processes, and allows the team to make the best use of time spent with patients. NextGen also helps Western Reserve Heart Care stay current and compliant with industry standards and regulations including CMS and HIPAA.
Dr. Emil Hayek is the Founder of Western Reserve Heart Care. He is an Assistant Professor of Medicine, Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, and Nuclear Cardiology.
Western Reserve Heart Care received its echocardiography accreditation from the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) in December 2007, and its nuclear medicine accreditation from the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL) in March of 2008.
Western Reserve Heart Care’s friendly environment and in-house equipment provide a much less stressful alternative to a hospital visit. The facility itself was designed with patient comfort in mind, with ample parking and comfortable patient waiting areas. The office is located at 1335 Corporate Drive in Hudson, across from JoAnn’s headquarters. For more information visit www.WesternReserveHeartCare.com or call 330-342-0806.
