Dr. Duffy Presents Risks, Symptoms and New Treatment Options for Varicose Veins
HUDSON, OH – (January 8, 2009) – Dr. Brendan Duffy of Western Reserve Vein Center, a new facility designed to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of varicose and spider veins, will inform residents of the Stow Glen Retirement Village about proper vein care and treatment options. The seminar will take place at Stow Glen on Friday, January 16th at 5:30 pm.
"If vein problems are left untreated they may worsen over time and can lead to other serious medical conditions," said Dr. Brendan Duffy of Western Reserve Vein Center. "It is crucial to educate seniors on treatment options. Treatments have changed significantly, and are now much less invasive and time-consuming."
Dr. Brendan Duffy is a vascular specialist and oversees the Western Reserve Vein Center. He will present a seminar on "Vein Care & Comfort" to Stow-Glen residents and offer a free screening for those who would like to participate. The seminar will inform attendees about how varicose veins develop, the different types and their causes, and treatments that the center offers. In addition, the doctor will discuss the problems that can result if varicose veins are left untreated.
Over 1 million people in the U.S. seek treatment for vein discomfort each year. The Vein Center hopes to help those in need, in the comfort of an office setting. The free screening will detect any potential vein problems, which can then be treated at the Western Reserve Vein Center. Advanced treatments at the center, like endovenous laser therapy, eliminate varicose veins and allow patients to walk immediately after the 1 hour procedure. The seminar will educate residents who may have vein discomfort to possible solutions that will help to alleviate their pain. Dr. Duffy will conclude the seminar with a question and answer session.
The Vein Center is located in the offices of Western Reserve Heart Care. Western Reserve Heart Care received its echocardiography accreditation from the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) in December 2007, and its nuclear medicine accreditation from the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL) in March of 2008.
Western Reserve Heart Care’s friendly environment and in-house equipment provide a much less stressful alternative to a hospital visit. The facility itself was designed with patient comfort in mind, with ample parking and comfortable patient waiting areas.
