Western Reserve Vein Center Opens in Hudson

Vein Treatment Center Offers Services by Accredited Cardiologist

HUDSON, Ohio (January 15, 2009) -- Western Reserve Vein Center recently opened as a full service facility designed to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of varicose veins and spider veins. The new vein care services complement the full spectrum of ICAEL and ICANL-certified cardiac testing available at Western Reserve Heart Care, including echocardiography and nuclear stress testing.

"Vein health is important to patients’ comfort and confidence," said Dr. Brendan Duffy of Western Reserve Vein Center. "With the opening of the Vein Center, we can offer our patients non-invasive, pain-free treatment right in our offices."

Spider veins are small, thread-like colored veins that are most often seen at the surface of the skin. While most patients seek treatment for spider veins for cosmetic reasons, if left untreated they can result in substantial discomfort. Varicose veins are larger, often 1/4" or larger in diameter. They grow larger over time, and can result in significant pain and complications if they are not treated.

The Vein Center offers sclerotherapy and endovenous laser therapy to treat and remove spider veins and varicose veins. Sclerotherapy uses an injection to seal off diseased veins. It is performed in the office and does not require anesthesia. Endovenous laser therapy is a one-hour, in-office alternative to the much more intrusive vein stripping procedures of the past. It uses a laser fiber to close the damaged vein, and patients are encouraged to walk after the procedure.

Dr. Brendan Duffy will be overseeing operations, diagnosis, and patient care at the Vein Center. Dr. Duffy joined Western Reserve Heart Care in July and is a vascular specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of arterial and venous disease.

Western Reserve Heart Care received its echocardiography accreditation from the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) in December 2007, and its nuclear medicine accreditation from the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL) in March of 2008.

Western Reserve Heart Care’s friendly environment and in-house equipment provide a much less stressful alternative to a hospital visit. The facility itself was designed with patient comfort in mind, with ample parking and comfortable patient waiting areas.

The office is located at 1335 Corporate Drive in Hudson, across from JoAnn’s headquarters. For more information, visit www.WesternReserveHeartCare.com or call 330-342-0806. Most insurances are accepted.
